Trash Pickup - The City of Delray has a contract with Waste Management (Solid Waste Authority or SWA) to pickup our trash. You pay for this on your water bill.
Schedule - Trash Picked-up twice a week:
Tuesday - Household Trash (2 roller cans), Recycle (Yellow & Blue Bins) & Cardboard (flattened)
Friday - Household Trash, Brush & Bulk Debris
...... every Tuesday & Friday of the year except Thanksgiving & Christmas
Roller Cans - Are provided free-of-charge (one can only - you may be charged for additional cans). For Container Delivery or Replacement.
Email DelrayContainerRequests@swsfl.com or call (561) 202-2463
Recycle Bins - Are provided free-of-charge. Call the Solid Waste Authority at (561) 697-2700
Taking Out the Trash - Trash Cans, Recycle Bins, Brush and Bulk Trash must be stored out-of-site until the day before the designated pickup day. Empty cans & bins must be re-stored by the end of the day after the trash pickup day. When putting out the trash, place it at the curb in front of your residence. A small number of houses do not have curb space for trash. These residents are permitted to place brush and bulk trash on Common Ground directly across from their house.
Fines - The City of Delray Code Enforcement Officer (Nuisance Abatement) frequently rides through our community. If he sees trash placed at the curb before the designated time, he will schedule a special pickup and the homeowner will be charged for that pickup on their next water bill.
Special Pickup - The homeowner can call and arrange for a special pickup. There will be a charge for this service. (561) 243-7203 x 7002
Bulk Trash - Is defined as non-hazardous items such as appliances, rugs, furniture, etc., too large or heavy to be containerized. Includes small amounts of construction material. Dumping debris from construction or remodeling work is your contractor's responsibility, and our trash hauler may refuse to pick it up.
Large Glass Items - This includes mirrors, shower-doors, glass table-tops, large glass receptacles, picture frames. These items must be broken up and placed in the roller-cart (not the recycle-bin).
Please be careful! If you are going to try to break the glass, it should be wrapped with a heavy tarp or old blanket. Don't just hit it with a hammer as pieces fly every which way and you may cut yourself. Wear heavy gloves to handle the pieces.
And if you are uncomfortable doing this, don't do it. Find someone that is comfortable.
Brush or Vegetative Waste - Tree trimmings and branches should not be longer than 6' or more than 50 lbs. in weight. Grass and hedge clippings must be bagged and weigh 50 lbs. or less and not mixed with other type refuse.
Hazardous Waste - Paints, chemicals, insecticides, fertilizers, oil, gas cans, pool chemicals, batteries, American Flags, etc. These must be taken to the Hazardous Waste Depot:
South County Transfer Station, 1901 SW 4th Ave, Delray Beach (for more information CLICK-HERE)
or
